Avatar & Transparency

I've seen many people use avatars with transparent colours in them, but when i upload one with transparency, It shows the original background colour?

Is there any way I can fix this? Different file type? Different Image Host?

I don't understand? I have to use firefox while uploading/setting my avy?
If you can make it transparent in a way that works, that would be nice...

Waddle I know go I'll do it for you... just give me the picture, and if you wanan do it yourself go to google and google paint.net then download and use the magic wand tool and once you highlight something go to edit then cut and you'll see white and gray checkers that means that part is transparent.
