Hello.
I have finished a sucsessful story, and have 3 running. I will teach you how to keep people liking your story.

Section 1: Word Choice.
You don't want to always repeat the same word. Spice your word choice up!
Here's a bad example of word choice:
"What's going on?" He said.
"I don't know." She said.
"How do you not know?" He said.
Don't repeat the same words over and over. Said isn't the best word, and repeating it over and over will make people get bored.
Here's a good example of word choice:
]"What's going on?!" Colddude yelled.
"I don't know, but we gotta get outta here!" Cygnus yelled, reaching out to the ice cold doorknob.
That word choice will make people want to read more, since it's not repeating, "said, said, said".

Section 2: A good beginning.
Did YOU start a story, but no one replied? Well, the beginning is the most important part. Here is a bad beginning, which no one would read.
There was a penguin who was smart, and he went on adventures.
BOOOORING! It's one sentence! You should have a full chapter to start, or a prologue. Make it at least 2 to 5 paragraphs long, but don't make it 20000 words! No one will be willing to read such a long chapter.

Section 3: Grammar.
You want to have good grammar, or else people won't bother to try to read somthing so hard to read. Make sure that people can read it. Here's an example of bad grammer which no one would read.
onse uhpon uh tim, dere wuz uh prtty uncron.
That's impossible for me to read, so why would I read it?

Section 4: Sign-ups.
One thing to keep people intrested is sign-ups. Give a sheet like this.
Penguin: _______________.
Color: _________________.
Personality: _________________.
Sign-ups make people read the story because they're in the story!
Don't have over 20 characters in a story. People want to be in every chapter unless there penguin goes missing or somthing, and over 20 penguins is too hard to balance. Even out sign-ups, and make them only once in awhile when you need characters.

Section 5: Keeping a storyline.
Keep the story nice and intense! Action, battles, and mysteries keep people intrested! Those are good story ideas, or journeys to find powerful/rare items, OR journeys to save other penguins.

Well, that's the guide. Good luck with your stories!

Thanks. I've been writing stories online since November '07, and I'm writing 5+ stories at the moment online, and 2 or 3 outside the computer.

Cooldude018 a question. How do I make a thread? I don't know how. I want to make a story with the tips you gave me, but I don't know where I can make a thread. Please Reply if possible for you to explain.

I should have checked out this guide before I created my story. Then I would know what sign-ups were!
