View Full Version : Disney Buys Club Penguin!

Disney announced 8/1/07 that they have purchased Club Penguin, the popular online virtual world for kids.

Other than changing the name to "Disney's Club Penguin", they say that they have no plans to change the game itself. This makes Disney's 4th "virtual world", after Toontown, Virtual Magic Kingdom, and the upcoming Pirates Online game.

I notice that VMK actually isn't mentioned in that Forbes article.

I am surprised that Disney would buy this game. I wonder if they'll take out the Pizza Parlor... I do like Pizzatron. :(

When i was looking at this post, I noticed this:

Guess they aren't changing the game any, so nothing different.

I bet they will probably add a new clothing pieve like a Mickey hat to the game. That would be really cool.

That would be cool too. I don't want Club Penguin to become too much Disney related though, there's already lots of sites if you want your game to be like Disney. I think Club Penguin is great with tons of Disney add ins. A few would be cool, but I don't want Disney taking over the game.

Eh...
This is not a good idea.
Disney may make it worse.
Or it could make it better, with more updates.
But yet... this is still a nightmare for the classic club penguin player...
